Masterclass: IAS the right way, and the wrong way

It's a sure sign that something is up when one of the keynote presentations at a software trade event covers International Accounting Standards.

In case you haven't already noticed, all listed European companies will be required to use international standards from January 2005 - and most of them already need to be able to produce comparable figures for 2004 to present in their first IAS statements.

At Softworld Accounting & Finance on 3 March at Olympia Grand Hall in London, Atos KPMG Consulting managing director Gary Reader will hold an hour-long masterclass on how international GAAP will affect listed businesses and advising how companies should react to the changes.

Treating IAS merely as an accounting and reporting project would be a severe underestimation of the transition's importance,...
