If a package offers an analysis-ready file it makes reporting far easier. The data is formatted ready for immediate use in reports, and you don't have to search among the raw data tables to find it. In his first article, David Carter listed the fields he would like to see in an analysis-ready file for nominal ledger reporting. Below he discusses the principles behind his selection.
