E-signing the wrong version of a document is everyone’s worst nightmare.  And it is not because the action cannot be undone once discovered.  It is because it can remain undiscovered until much, much later when the parties are forced to re-read a contract they signed in the past usually because of a dispute or misunderstanding. “I do not think I actually agreed to this” is not something that should cross your mind, when all the goodwill between you and the counterparty has evaporated.

Re-reading a document before signing it is clearly the best way to protect yourself against that eventuality.   However, who wants to do it if all you want is to confirm that the document presented to you for e-signing is the very same document you already read.

Most of us use ‘compare documents’ or ‘track changes’ features that are available in most word processing editors.  With e-signature the decision is simpler and binary: all we want to know if we are signing the right version or not.

Introducing ‘compare document’ feature.

MyDocSafe has enabled the feature to compare documents before e-signing them.  The result is a message: the documents match or they do not.  The feature is achieved with a so called ‘hashing function’ which translates both documents into long numbers that are distinctly and uniquely connected with them which are then compared.  Using this feature give both the sender and the signee extra comfort and trust in electronic signature technologies.

This feature is now readily available for all users of MyDocSafe.
