We've seen a significant increase in the electronic filing of accounts. 72.7% are filed online (40.7% using software and 32% using WebFiling). By the end of March 2017, we expect to receive 2.2 million electronic filings which will represent 75% of all accounts filed.
More accountants are filing annual accounts with us via software than ever before. Since September 2016, LLP accounts can be filed by software, and other types of accounts are planned to be enabled soon. Because of this, we expect digital take up to increase even further.
If you act for a number of small limited companies and don't file electronically, you're in the minority. Why not see if it works for you?
Electronic filing:
· is faster
· is cheaper
· is more secure
· is more efficient
· reduces the risk of penalties
· acknowledges receipt and acceptance
There aren't any current plans to mandate electronic filing of accounts. However, if you couldn't file on paper any more, what would it mean for you? Your views or comments would be most welcome.
