Explain your avatar
Purely for fun, why have you chosen your Avatar? I think I can guess our beloved Mods reasons... unless it is an evil(?) plan to fool us into thinking they are pretty women when in fact they are burly, hairy men?
Mine is a duck I met at CentreParcs who was kind enough to pose for some photos after knocking on my chalet door. Or perhaps I am a duck IRL... (often bird brained it's true...)
Representative avatar
I would like to be cute (I'm not!), and I know I ask a lot of questions .... so.... my avatar is cute, with question marks :)
I'm also an animal lover, and all animals are cute, or beautiful .... even big glaring wolves OGA ;)
I think at the time I had
I think at the time I had rekindled my love for Super Mario Bros. on the nes and it seemed as good as any. Not as interesting as a friendly duck...
I'd like to explain mine
but I'd get thrown off AW!
Go Flash Go!
Love of american football & probably the best film ever! And maybe the desire for good to overcome evil.... even if it will never happen..
Me is me I'm afraid
Although that picture was taken 3 and a half years ago so I look quite different now! In fact new members of staff hardly recognise me in my avatar. I always thought about updating it, but avatars become quite iconic don't they, I know that's how I find people when I scan some forums - easier on some than others though, and of course not everyone uses one.
I have been amused by some of your avatars over the years. Keep up the good work.
Go on...
but I'd get thrown off AW!
Try me (in private message), I'm more than curious! maybe it's not as bad as you think :)
I always wonder what would be seen ... 1 thanks
... if you panned back from Becky's picture! I think the use of the term "Webinatrix" the other day was the tipping point :oO.
My avatar is a picture taken in the wild of a Norwegian alpha male wolf on sentry duty. I contacted the photographer for permission to use it as an avatar and one day will get a big HD version to put on my wall.
As I said to Shirley before, the gaze is not directed at AW users (other than those employed by HMRC) and the image also alludes to my lone wolf soul.
Slightly off topic, had a letter from my account manager at SAGE with her business card. It has her photo on it, and whilst I am sure she is a lovely girl, the "alluring" pose that she has struck makes the kind appear more like the kind you would find pinned up in a public telephone box! To be serious for once, I think this is a very tacky idea, and whilst I suppose they are trying to appear "friendly" I don't really care, as long as they produce the goods.
This is what i look like 1 thanks
What do you mean avatar?
I thought these were real.
Very boring
Promotional picture originally intended for use on a business website. It was never actually used (though you can find the same picture on my profile on a networking group site)
My off-duty avatar on another forum would take a bit more explaining.
. 1 thanks

I, for one, would love to see this picture...
Obviously
Having seen the duck above I just had to show that I'm a far better looking duck.
You must be quackers
real ducks are prettier than fake ducks
oops - sorry CC
Until you explained about the duck I thought it was a cartoon type pic of Charlie chaplin or Laurel (& Hardy) - - off to Specsavers then!!
Mine is the real me too 1 thanks
Although also a couple of years old. Might have to start updating more regularly to better reflect the developing wrinkles!
Much has been written on 'what your photo/avatar says about you'. I hope the real photo doesn't say 'lack of imagination'. :)
My avatar 1 thanks
I think as a treat for the members I will change my avatar to more updated photos of myself over my last couple of weeks.
Mine is the real me also
Well no it isn't actually. It's the artwork from the cover of 'Mwng' which was a Welsh language album by Super Furry Animals. I love the band, I love the album, and I love the artwork.
Goes with my username
The so-called "skull smashing" scene from 2001 a Space Oddessey, soundtrack...Also Sprach Zarathustra, by Richard Strauss.
Avatar change #1
I've changed my avatar. In an effort to remind myself of a memorable time I have chosen a picture of me taken on the eve of my first sight of the Taj Mahal in January this year. It was a truly breath-taking view, only spoiled by my mug!
Stick man
I preferred my stick man avatar from before, but I'm not sure people took me seriously when I posted answers to queries!!
@thisistibi
I liked your stick man, too.
I am sure people will take a stick man just as seriously as they do a penguin, a wolf, a duck, a ??? (not sure what mwngiol's avatar is!), or a chimp beating h*ll out of some bones ;)
Thanks
I'm going to try and get more recent and more relaxed with them as my final days pass.
Recent and relaxed?
So the last one will be of you sleeping the night before you finish? :P
That's not looking likely Becky... 2 thanks
... you've a long way to go to get here:
BTW, mwng means "mane" apparently!
@Shirley
Thanks - you're right, back to stick-man me.
@mwngiol
Your avatar has shrunk since the AWeb redesign, which is a shame.... perhaps if you re-uploaded it after changing the dimensions, it would come out larger like before :(
Awwww
That photo is lush! I just 'awww'ed out loud!
Welcome back to thisistibi's avatar :) 1 thanks
I like the 'fun' avatars best of all :)
OGA
'Mwng' does indeed mean 'mane'. I thought I'd said that in my initial explanation but it seems I forgot!
There is an alternative picture of the album cover (I think it's either a later edition or was used on foreign releases) which looks less skull-like but I still can't identify the animal!
thisistibi - had a fiddle with the dimensions and seems to have worked! Thanks for the tip :)
This is when she's not sleeping ...
... and what we've been doing this afternoon/evening (sorry, not good with the sizing yet!)

That's a good action photo OGA
I like to see dogs working, and particularly enjoy seeing them leap into the water as they do it with such enthusiasm :)
Like this you mean ...
(unfortunately I can take no credit for either picture)
Worked out the sizing now though :o)
That is down to training (or lack of!) ...
... my dog will bring the dummy back, then wait whilst I retire a safe distance and then shake on command, but then she will only enter water when sent!
Being a responsible dog owner my dog is under control at all times in public as I understand there are many poor derranged souls who fail to appreciate the charms of a shower of stagnant pond water being shaken over their picnic lunch!
(showing off now, but she is Daddy's little princess - lol)

Awwwwwww
So cute.....
How do you post piccies on? I was going to add one of my little girl but alas the technology doesn't allow cut & paste....
Image button
There is an image button about halfway along the toolbar (a square with what looks like a child's painting of sun shining on a tree in it). Click that and you'll come up with options for adding a picture to your post. Looks like it has to be online somewhere though (so you can't just upload from your PC). Try www.photobucket.com for free online picture hosting if you need it.
Test example. My helpful cat, in a helpful position. Sadly, passed away suddenly two and a half weeks ago.

@ Stepurhan
Cheers for that, I'll give it a whirl. Really sorry to hear about your cat - she's just like my youngest (except he looks smaller) :(
Ok...
... as Steprhuran says, click the add image button.
This opens a box "Image Properties"
Click "Browse Server"
Click on "Upload" - top left
Click "Browse" and find picture in the "explorer" box, highlight and click open, then click upload.
Then click "Insert File" - top left
I have found an image size of arond 500 Width is best, I resize proportionally in MS Office Picture Manager
Hope that helps
I think what you are doing is uploading onto the AW server, and then selecting to insert in your post! - not quite the cut and paste we were expecting :o(
I think it is a house not a tree though (sad b*****d that I am I wopped up to max zoom!)

My other avatar
Since we now know how to post pictures. This is the other avatar I was talking about.
![]()
This is me, in a hideously brightly coloured shirt at a meeting of the virtual Poohsticks bridge (now sadly defunct, though there is a group on Facebook of old members)
I still own the shirt, and some others of similar mixed colours. None worn in my professional capacity.
I've always been a bit of a trekkie
My favourite series of the the Star Trek franchise was The Next Generation and one of my favourite episodes was when Captain Picard gets kidnapped by The Borg (a race of evil cyborgs that operate under a forced collective conciousness). For non-trekkies my avatar is Locutus of Borg (Captain Picard after he has been kidnapped and assimilated by the Borg).
I think I got given a login to accountingweb many years ago through my ACCA membership. I couldn't change the login number to something different.
Borg are generally given numbers rather than names. Since I was a number rather than a name, it felt appropriate to use a photo of a Borg!
Well
Black, bearded, aggressive and dumb all the things i'm not!
