Base currency in Sage

Hello all,

Is it possible to change the BASE currency in Sage 50 to Euro's?  I have a client who has UK registered companies but they have "branches" in other countries.  The accountants for these branches need reports from the clients Sage system for the branches annual accounts.  However, although our client has the multi currency option in place, the BASE currency is £'s.  I'm sure there must be others out there who have come across this problem..........

Thanks in anticipation from sunny Cornwall.

Direct from Sage's knowledgebase:

"No, you cannot change the base currency. Therefore, it is important that you select the correct base currency when setting up your company information in the ActiveSetup Wizard."

Hi John,

Thanks for that.  A change to my original question then...if we were to setup a new branch for say Norway, the base currency could be set as Norweigan Kroner so that all reports (tb, p&l etc) would be in NKR and we would then convert to £'s for the year end accounts?  This would then allow the accountants in Norway (for example) to extract the data they need for the branch reporting from the Sage system and it would already be in NKR.

Does anyone have experience of this already?

Yes, the financial reports would then be in NKR.

Vat Return Query

terrytowlin | | Permalink

Hi

Just taken over the bookkeeping for a client.

Year end 31/01/11.

Client started using Sage from 01/02/11.

Vat qtrs March/April/May 11, June/July/Aug 11.

Last return M/A/M 11 was done by previous accountant but not using Vat return facility.

Currently all transactions from 01/02/11 are unreconciled for Vat purposes. I want to reconcile all transactions from 01/02/11.

What would you suggest is the best way to reconcile Feb 11 transactions because these form part of a previous "manual" return ie Dec 10/Jan 11/Feb 11.

As M/A/M 11 has been produced but not reconciled I though I could just run this using the vat return facility and adjust for any difference.

All suggestions greatly received. Especially relating to the Feb 11 unreconciled items.
