BSOD with Iris iXBRL report production
We are currently using 10.6 and have had the re-occurrence of a practice stopping issue, We use Accounts Production/Business and Personal Tax modules)
Earlier in the year (April) we had the situation on the majority of our standard Dell Optiplex Vista desktops that at the point where the report creation screen moves from the question dialogue boxes to the report screen each workstation would Blue Screen (commonly known as BSOD)
Following advice from Iris Support (they believed it was a hardware issue) we added new video cards on all the machines but this proved unsuccessful.
Then a member of staff created a new client and new set of accounts on a machine with the standard integrated Intel graphics and the iXbrl report was created properly (the practices' first).Running this report again on the rest of the machines worked and until last week everything was fine. It seemed this new company had somehow "cleared" a data issue that had been causing the BSOD's, though nothing unusual was reported by Iris's support when I sent them the data.
Last week though the Blue Screens came back, including on the one machine that has always worked, we tried a new company to no success.
Iris is running on Microsoft Small Business Server 2008 R2 with SQL 2008 Express, following Iris support's advice I tried, somewhat reluctantly, to run Iris workstation software on the server, the report production worked and I stopped panicking about a BSOD on the server (hate to think what would have happened to Exchange and TAS and the file store). This takes us back to the 12 identical workstations.
The only changes between April and last week would have been Microsoft Updates and AV definition updates.
At this point we are stuck, Iris support doesn't seem to have any further answers and I was wondering if anyone else has had this sort of practice stopping issue and had a solution?
TIA
Paul
BSOD with Iris iXBRL report production
Its at that point, the closure of the main Iris screen back to the desktop that our machines crash, it is as if there is a graphic mode reset before the report is finally rendered.

iXBRL accounts
Interesting, given that this is the only point in the whole Iris suite that this happens, maybe they can find a way of producing the iXBRL reports in the same way as all the rest of their reports. They have obviously changed something in the report production routine.

iXBRL Accounts
When creating ixbrl accounts (we are still on 10.6 as we have a couple of issues to solve before upgrading) we have had crashes. We are using Citrix workstations which do seem to behave differently from pcs. This has not stopped us working though ... yet.

iXBRL Accounts
Have you reported the crashes to Iris, one of my issues is that Iris say we are unique.
Any pattern would help, hence my request in here to a wider user base.

Why not go to 10.7.1 ...
... and see if this resolves it?
Blank screen
We have often had the same experience as tkingston when generating the iXBRL accounts - the AP screen clears back to the desktop (or whatever other windows are open) or goes blank (black, not blue), then re-appears as the Tag Editor screen. It never fails to appear, so we have never reported it as a problem.
We also have occasional blank screens when loading the IRIS Main Menu in the first place - again we have never reported it because the menu always appears.
We are on 10.7.1 and SQL Server Express 2005.
Update
Spent the day installing 10.7 and testing, result with main SBS server was the same Blue screen on all workstations tested (3)
Then installed a standalone version of 10.7 on a 3gb Vista 32 workstation with SQL Express 2008 R2 (32bit) restored a sql backup of the data and this worked without any issues other than the disconcerting blank screen as it switches between the two modes.
Then installed 10.7.1 on each with no difference in performance BSOD on the main workstations :(

iXBRL accounts
I don't know if this is related to your problem, but when I generate a set of iXBRL "LTD" accounts, after the dialogue screens, and before the iXBRL accounts are displayed, my screen clears back to the desktop, as if Accounts Production has closed. It always causes a heart-stopping moment before the accounts appear. I guess that the delay before the accounts are displayed is only a very few seconds.
My set-up is a stand-alone computer, and I am running SQL Server Management Studio Express 2005.
So far my computer and the program have not crashed, but the appearance of the closure of Accounts Production is unusual and does not occur at any other point in using the Iris suite. A long shot, but perhaps this may contain a clue to your problem. Does anyone else eperience the same phenomenon?
