E-Cigarettes

Following Beckys decision to quit smoking (because of her new exciting job) she said she had bought an E-Cigarette. I have spent a couple of days reviewing what is on offer and have finally placed an order today. I hope it will help me quit this vice. The theory is that you start with high nicotine vapour and gradually reduce the strength. I hope this will work for me as I cannot rely totally upon will-power (I don't seem to have any where smoking is concerned!).

Has anyone tried them, and did they work for you?

Tried and Tested

Hi Shirley

I was approached outside Euston station a couple of months ago by the sellers of E-lites (*other brands available) and decided to give it a go.  I have to say I was impressed.  You have something to do with your hands, get the nicotine, the hit at the back of the throat etc.  Added bonus is that you really feel like you are smoking because you're exhaling "smoke".

I got down to 2 "real" cigarettes a day and kept them in the mail box so I would have to actually go outside to even smoke these (are you detecting my level of will power?)

Unfortunately I must report that the E-lites are now in the "useful" drawer along with various diet plans and the gym timetable.....as Mr Wilde said "I can resist everything ................"

If you really want to give up I think they are certainly the best thing out there and wish you the very best of luck!

The kit hasn't arrived yet, but I am hoping it will help me to wean myself off the nicotine addiction, and still allow me to indulge in my ingrained habit of 'smoking'.

Thanks for the encouragement :)

The kit arrived Tuesday. I played around with it on Wednesday and stopped smoking real ciggies at 5pm yesterday.

That means 24 hrs without a ciggy, and I am quite calm and not 'up on the ceiling'. It may not mean much to non-smokers, but for me it feels like a miracle.

Great news!  You have actually inspired me to try again on Tuesday (after a weekend long Irish wedding!)

Well done and keep at it!

Thank you, and good luck to you, too :)

I haven't found it difficult as the E-cigarette is fulfilling my addictive 'urges'. I did find the taste of one brand of nicotine a bit too sweet and sickly, but the liquid that came with the E-ciggy is more to my liking. If you want any more info just PM me :)

Still smoking e-ciggies, but haven't had a real ciggie.

I started on very high nicotine liquid, but gradually reduced it to medium, and just ordered some low strength today. After that, the next step is zero nicotine but I will still be able to puff away to feed my 'smoking' habit.

This has worked great for me. I never, ever, thought I would manage to kick smoking without going through hell and high water first. I have taken it fairly slowly, but it has been quite painless and stress free.
