For those who are interested, I have found out (I know, slow learner) if you want a specific bit of a YouTube clip, if you right click on the vieo you get an option to "copy video URL at current time". If you select this and paste it into your comment, the clip will start where you want it (and avoid the adverts at the start if applicable!).

(Although apparently its every 50 minutes, not every six seconds as previously rumoured: although I think they didn't take into account the thought lasts for 49 minutes 54 seconds - lol)
