Online coding notices

Have got my first coding notice I can see online.

Excellent start, now we need to get an alert when we get new ones available.

Wrong codes

Sadly the last two notices received by my clients have been wrong so back to writing to HMRC to put them right.

Improvement (but more needed)

Receiving an alert is essential as if not there is still the obvious reliance on getting notified by your client but it's a step in the right direction.

on-line coding notices - alert required

Agreed - an alert is essential and should not be beyond the wit of man to programme in I would have thought/ hoped

wrong codes

HMRC seems to be rife with issuing codes now after 31 October!!!!

I thought they didnt.

one of our clients has been given a coding adjustment on his SA comp!

another has been "back coded" so the tax she should be due back has been put onto the coding system but her tax code has been changed!

coding hysteria! at least we can now view recent coding notices on SA online

!!!

wrong codes

HMRC have been so behind in processing our manual returns (which we prefer filing) (since the taxpayer gets a form rather than a skimpy letter through the post)

they made an input error on one

and coding addjustment errors on the SA account on one and a coding adjustment error on the sa statment of account on another.....

Agent copies?

Catti | | Permalink

Today I came across a case where at the moment the client has no source of income within PAYE, but has been sent a coding notice for 2012-13.

The notice says "We believe that you are currently between jobs . . . . . " but later "It is important that you make sure that we have got your tax code right" so the client asked me to check, and I told her not to bother sending me a copy because I could access details online.

Guess what: no I can't.

On telephoning HMRC to check, I was told that agents do not get copies of codes that are not actually being applied. This is apparently policy, not a one-off omission.  Someone decided the policy.

Can anybody find any logic in the decision?

Does anyone agree that this is an issue to raise with WT?

Or is this just one more example of the problems with HMRC that we are expected to accept and live with?

Major or significant problem? No.

Trivial but time-wasting and very annoying? Yesssss!
