QuickBooks conflict with IE9?

Client running QB Simple Start 2012, Windows 7 and IE9. On opening QB, gets the message "Quickbooks Fatal Error. You must use "Turn Windows features on or off" in the Control Panel to install or configure MS Explorer 8. QB will now exit. Please switch IE 8 ON and try again."  Will QB not work on IE9? Do they need to roll back to IE8?

Thank you very much, Angus. It's reassuring to know that we're not the only ones experiencing this and it seems to date back to the MS security update to IE9 released last week.  I will follow this trail and see if anyone comes up with an answer.
