Sage 50 2011 (V17) Backup restore error

My client has emailed me a backup of their account data. When I try to restore it on my PC I keep getting the following error: C:\Programdata\Sage\Accounts\2011\company.000\Sagebackup.ini.

I even deleted the previous data Company.000 in Accounts\2001 and tried to restore the data, but keep getting the above error message. Can some one help me on this.

I am using Windows 7 and Sage50 Accounts 2011

After you get the error and you get the Restore failed message, have you checked to see if the data is there as, as long as the 'main' data files have restored at that point, you may be OK just to carry on as the file in question does not contain any accounts data.

Is the backup from v17 or could it be from v18?

Backup is from V17. (As per Sage back-up service, the Sage 2011 software is up to date).

Data restored with error message has lost all the detail entries, only shows total on the nominal ledger, when I try activity listing on any of the nominal ledgers, there is no detail.

Immediately prior to restore, delete the existing copy of the file in question.  If that still does not work, you'd need to arrange to get another backup.

I'm not using v17 but the

I'm not using v17 but the backup file as shown in your string "C:\Programdata\Sage\Accounts\2011\company.000\Sagebackup.ini." does not appear to be a valid backup file but rather a file containing settings.

Sage backup names do vary from company to company, but if the person lets the software use default settings such as file name etc, then you are more likely to have a backup named Sage02022012.001 or similar. I know my backups have the time included in the file name also, but they always by default have the extension .001 and not .ini

Could you ask your client to check that they have sent the correct file?

The file in question isn't a backup file, it is one of the many files within the backup file and it is failing to restore...

SAGE LINE 50

I have Sage Line 50 which has given an error report stating the TB does not balance.  The TB does balance and all the totals on the TB are correct.  What appears to be the issue is that when you drill down on a nominal ledger code, the activity behind does not agree as it is missing the transaction stated on the error report.  Any ideas?

Just to confirm, this is when you run Check Data?  Do you also get a message that you must restore backup data?
