Sun accounts package to Aqilla accounts.

Happy new year, all.

I was wondering if anyone has had the experience of moving from SUN accounts to using Aqilla accounts for an international charity (East Africa and UK) and if they could share some insights. Would be very much appreciated.

Thanking you in advance.

SUN Version

Hi

I can't help on the Aqilla side but if you need help with SUN426 /SUN431 and can't get the info into Excel then let me know.

Probably would be good to know what modules and version you are on.

Thanks

Rich

Many thanks, Rich.

I think our version is 5.3. I think the latest version is "7", but apparently the cost of an upgrade is too high for the organisation.

Problems are manifold. There is a history of improperly processed transactions that need clearing up. I am being taught the system by a colleague who himself has only had limited training on it and it is currently a case of putting info into excel in a particular format and then loading it into SUN. I think this process is too long.

I have been quoted £900 a day for training - too high for us currently- so I think I am looking at a quick switch to another more affordable system.

SUN Help

Hi

I don't know that version but if you need help then lots might be found on the forums at this site http://www.sunpundits.com/

There are ways of setting up rules in sun so that you can try and control user input. The most issues I used to have to deal with was people importing data and not reviewing the validation report so that loads of transactions went to a suspense account. Vision XL would help as the validation would mainly happen in Excel but the Journal Import routine could still have entries in suspense if the entries failed some of the rules.

Good luck

Hi Rich,

The link good very useful. Much appreciated.

I was taken through the Vision upload process today. Problem was the one training me himself did not know why certain things were done, he just knew he had to follow a numbe rof steps very carefully and failing that he would have to discard the journal and start again.

I will attempt to delve into this website and see what new knowledge I can pick up.

Very many thanks.
