Tough Choices

Hi guys,

Apologies if this is the wrong area to post this but here I go.

After passing my Law Degree I have been working as a Bookkeeper in an my Father's Accountancy Firm. I decided to do so after realising that Law wasn't really for me. I much prefered the business side of things, such as Finances and Intellectual property. As I have been with the firm since its inception I was named as a director.

I am now looking to expand my horizons and am interested in working for a firm as a trainee accountant (with hopes of becoming an ICAEW member) as my Father's Firm will not enable me to do this (not ICAEW registered) I am looking elsewhere.

The problem is, I feel that being a direcor of a firm already may lead to my CV/App being thrown straight in the bin. I could resign as director but I'm not sure that will make a difference.

What do you guys think?
