Attention anonymous posters

As part of our commitment to continually growing and responding to all member feedback, we have decided to turn off the ability to post anonymously as of Wednesday this week.  This has always been a contentious issue and after much discussion we think it is in the interest of the community as a whole to do this.

There has been plenty of debate on this issue, and if you have not had the chance to voice your opinion I apologise, but this has been rumbling on for some time now and we have had to make a decision.

What will happen now when you post is it will show your registered username.  If you want this changing before you continue to post here then send me a private message containing the username you want to assume and I will change it.  Just to point out that changes will be tracked here at HQ and changing your username to assume a new identity as of next week will not be granted without first checking any discussions you may be involved with at the time - this is to avoid people causing trouble and changing their names.  If your contribution is valid and reasoned then there is no need for you to be upset about this change.

You are welcome to comment on this change below but please be aware that we will not be changing our minds now as this debate is over.

Please contact me privately if you have any concerns about this change for you personally.

Many thanks

What is the reason for this Becky?

Sorry if I have missed the explanation in other threads.

No worries for missing it, I thought it might have slipped under a few radars.  Here are the two main reasons for the change.

1.  Several members have said it is difficult to follow threads where there are more than one 'anon' posters.

2.  Over the past 6 months there have been a number of debates/issues which would not have escalated to the level they did if posters could identified.

Hope that clears things up.

 Greetings,

Seeing that these are nascent subjects on accounting, I would like to see more on these topics as they are becoming more important as the recession bites and corporations are prone to these issues. I would like to see a section devoted to this.

It can be confusing.

Why hide?

That's great Becky, I've always said that it's no good hiding behind an "anon" signature.

You should never be afraid of asking what you don't know and you'll never sell your services by hiding them away in a dark room, unless you're selling mushrooms of course.

I am sure there are many legitimate reasons why someone would want anonymity. In any case, someone's arguments should stand or fall on their merits, not on the name of the poster.

I accept that, if you are selling something, you need to use your own name, but most people here are not.

Good to hear this!

I've only just seen this thread and personally think this is a good move to no longer allow anon postings :)
