Flag as offensive
Hello
As part of our commitment to responding to feedback and further developing the sites since our re-launch, we have taken the decision to remove the 'report as offensive' function for the time being.
If you come across something on the site that you deem to be unacceptable in its tone or content then I would advise contacting me direct either by private message, email or by calling my direct line on 0117 915 8657 and I will deal with it directly.
We will be looking at this function again in the future if it transpires that it will be useful to members. If you have any contribution to how such a function might best work for you as a member I would be delighted to hear from you.

Similar function instead?
Hi Becky,
I believe that, in an un-moderated forum environment, there is definitely a need for a function similar to "report as offensive".
When someone believes that a post is offensive or defamatory, immediate contact with a "moderator" is important. Alternatively there should be a simple method of complaining about a post otherwise it could be visible to all for an unreasonable time.
Have a wonderful Christmas and happy new year.

I agree with Roger
Becky
As an experienced moderator on other sites I agree with Roger. Offensive posts, if indeed they are, need to be dealt with quickly and before too many other members and Google find them. I am not sure that contacting you directly will be effective. You need several people to have access to moderation in case you are not available, and bearing in mind that a post might need to be pulled at any time.
Kind regards
Jon

Thanks for the responses
We'll definitely be taking the weight of your opinions on board and will look at introducing a Flag as Offensive notification button in the New Year.
The idea of member-moderators is a good one that already applies in our discussion groups, but we will consider whether it is feasible extend this approach to Any Answers and news articles.
Finally, the easiest way to reach Becky or any other members of the editorial & community team at AccountingWEB is via editor[AT]accountingweb.co.uk.
Thanks all for your contributions and suggestions through the year. Have a great Christmas!
PS - Can anyone point me to the offensive member name on Graham's question? I haven't been able to find it yet - a URL would be helpful or phrase from the question headline... where's that Flag as Offensive button when you need it, eh?
