Search by date facility
Over the past month or so, we've had grumbles in Any Answers about the inability to see search results in reverse date order.
This is not the only time it has happened - there were similar moans back in July.
We've answered the members who raised the points and share their anguish - more often than not, the thing you want to find is about a recent change or item, and it's a real headache to try and trawl through years' worth of content to find it.
Our production team has reinstated the Date filter, but explained that for some inexplicable reason the content management system we use doesn't like this facility, so it wasn't included as a default when we first switched over last June, and then it somehow removed itself from the search options during December. We hope the Date filter will behave itself and stay where it is, but if the quirk should repeat itself at any piont in the future, you can doctor the search results yourself in the URL address box by pasting the following text string to the end of your search results (with no space before the question mark):
?solrsort=changed desc
We understand how crucial the Search facility is for AccountingWEB members, so if you have any other gripes about it, please bring them to our attention here or via email to editor[AT]accountingweb.co.uk. As far as we are able to, we'll try our best to correct any glitches that really bother you.
