PowerPivot - Excel with Steroid
The first time I demonstrated PowerPivot (PP) to an actuary, I asked her to guess how many records were behind the pivot table. She said "a few hundred records"; I smiled! Then she said "a few thousand?", I kept smiling. When I told her that there were over 4 million records, she couldn't believe it because Excel has a maximum limit of 1 million rows per worksheet. She is right but PowerPivot, a free in memory OLAP tool from Microsoft has made Excel more POWERFUL!
I have written a series of blogs about PowerPivot. If you are using Excel 2010, then you should download PP from Microsoft and get the full potential of Excel 2010. If you are still using previous version of Excel, then you should download the trial version of Excel 2010 and PP. Once you try PowerPivot, you would love it!
