My November newsletter - LPP & the con-woman who 'was' both twin sisters!

My November newsletter is going out today (25 November) by email to those who subscribe for it.

If you don't get it, then you can view a copy online.

Topics covered include legal professional privilege for accountants (not), legal aid reform, the accountant fined £5,000 plus costs by ICAEW for failure to report a suspicion, two awards for my firm Accounting Evidence Ltd, a couple of recent legal developments in Scotland, the solicitors' cashier whose thefts remained undetected for more than 6 years (by which time she had had £1.6 million), and the con-woman who claimed to be both twin daughters of a famous poet (who actually died childless).

Congratulations on the two awards

Undoubtedly well-deserved.

The e-mail is as informative as ever. You've sort of got to admire the audacity of the "both twins" con-woman. Pretending to be a variety of people is every conmanship. Pretending to be related to someone famous is taking it up a notch. To pretend to be two people related to someone famous that should be well-known but don't actually exist at all. That's taking it to a whole new level.

I wonder if I could get away with claiming to be the illegitimate love child of Bill Gates ?  Should be worth a few quid :)

Trust an expert witness to come up with some minor technicallity :)

It's spotting those minor discrepancies that make David such a good expert witness. ;-)

Though I'm sure the fact that he always seems to know what he's talking about and is able to point out useful backup references helps.
