Focus on PROCESS rather than PROJECTS and build your PERFECT PRACTICE...
If you are striving to improve any aspect of your firm you'll spot things the firm does wrong or could be doing better. In short you find something going wrong, you've found something to fix - it might be the inconsistent way files are completed or, it might be recording the arrival of books and records onto your system after your 2-day target time.
By using a PROCESS approach you are more likely to look at the issue in a big picture context. Whereas a PROJECT approach typically leads to fixing one part and moving on rather than considering broader issues.
By looking at your problem with a PROCESS perspective you will seek to prevent causes of the problem and seek a cure. Whereas a PROJECT approach typically ignores causes and only focuses on a quick-fix cure with longer term, unforseen future problems.
A PROCESS approach also suggests an ongoing solution rather than fix-it-now solution. PROCESS also suggests that you'll look for the BUSINESS RHYTHM to support your PROCESS solution.
FOR EXAMPLE: If inconsistent billing is the problem the PROCESS approach will prompt conversations with the team about monthly versus weekly vs daily BUSINESS RHYTHMS. What rhythm best supports consistent billing? What RHYTHMIC PROCESS will fix the problem and generate an ongoing habitual solution?
What problems have you fixed that have then re-appeared later and driven you nuts? How does this compare with problems that have been fixed and fixed for good? Can you make connections with the differences between PROJECT and PROCESS fixes?
