Making your 2010 a success - what matters most?
The great leadership book by Patrick Lencioni - 5 Dysfunctions of a Team - highlights 5 things for determining the success of the leadership of any organisation.
TRUST - CONFLICT - COMMITMENT - ACCOUNTABILITY - RESULTS
I suggest the one in need of the greatest attention at this time of year is accountability.
Why? Because people will consider goals, objectives, resolutions but avoid building in accountability processes to ensure their goals are revisited and reconsidered regularly. During January I'll be meeting the managing partners of 14 different firms around the UK to hold them to account on previously agreed goals. We'll also be discussing the next logical steps for their firm
In preparing for these meetings (today) it may be of interest to see some of the topics for discussion. They appear in no particular order:
- Cross-selling - how to make the most of the sales opportunities residing with your existing customers for your existing services
- Creating crystal clarity on the management accounts 'offer'
- Clarity on the goals for 2010 - and quarterly priority planning to achieve these
- Team development - expectations for key people within the team and how to ensure they achieve expectations
- Installing referal strategies to maximise the number of new leads
- Agreeing a calender of 2010 events and making them successful
- Making the most of direct mail to recruit new clients
- Fee growth or profit growth for 2010?
My question to you is...
What are your pressing priorities for 2010 and what are you doing to ensure you stay accountable to your goals for the year?
