Sage Practice Solutions - separate or together?
When we floated the idea of a Sage discussion group, several of the responses referred to products in the Sage Practice Solution portfolio. While the group as currently formatted refers to Sage 50 Accounts, we can change it to be a more general Sage users forum or we can create separate entities to handle dicussions about accounts only on one hand and tax, accounts product and practice management on the other.
It would be a great help to hear feedback on which approach would work best for you and we'll be entirely guided what active members of this forum think best.
Meanwhile, the thought occurred to me that when I interview software executives I end up cutting down what they say to ensure that the articles in IT Zone are readable and relevant to the wider membership. Specialist discussion groups like this provide a good place to put more lengthy versions of these conversations into the public domain - and are a good place to come to solicit questions and ideas to take up with the vendors.
With the impending arrival of mandatory online filing for Corporation Tax using iXBRL, I have been going around the practice software houses asking about their plans for iXBRL. The head of R&D at Sage's Accountants Division has been an enthusiast for the iXBRL approach for some time now and recently told me about his approach to the project. The CT implementation is fairly straightforward, but to get the system working seamlessly from Sage 50 Accounts through to Accounts Production and Business Tax requires a bit more work, he explained...
Give me a day or two and I'll dig out my notes on the subject.

We'll get on to the task shortly and I'll dig out the iXBRL material I promised.

Separate
I vote for separate. I imagine Sage L50 will get plenty of posts specific to the software, and Sage Practice users won't have to wade through all the L50 queries, and vice versa.
