Feed the greed

Whilst reports of slave labour in iphone/ipad manufacture has been bubbling up for several months, last weekend saw the release of a report into apalling work practices in China as a result of what can only be described as  corporate greed required to feed consumer greed.  See Guardian Article.

Is it time to force large manufacturers to publish details of the human and environmental impact of their products or maybe, as we have done with the banks, raise additional taxation based on the greed premium?

Alternatively will the outing of these practices encourage consumers not to consume, or to look elsewhere to consume in a less costly fashion?  I seem to remember it working with kangaroo skin football boots and slave labour in football production but how about the essentials of life like the ipad? Dream on Paul?

Thanks for the alert Paul. A disturbing report, relevant and alarming. Human capital devalued to increase financial value. Shame on Apple? Will they react?
