TAS corrupted

Further to my earlier post.  Is it possible that TAS have stopped my version working.  I also have TAS payroll installed on my computer.  I wonder when I did my year end download if they have done something to prevent TAS v3.19 operating properly.

I am sure they have because the CD to reinstall will no longer work.

Old software and new software

Hi there,

We certainly haven't done anything active to stop your old program from working - it's just that the two of them now have incompatible requirements, making it difficult to run the two programs on the same computer.

We use a Pervasive PSQL database to power our software. Your accounts program is almost 10 years old, whilst your payroll program is brand new. The database has now progressed to a point where your old accounts program just doesn't understand how to work with the new database. It's a bit like two cars; an old one needing leaded petrol and the new one needing unleaded - so you can't fill them both from the same pump.

Before releasing the payroll year-end update, where we could identify that a payroll customer also had a very old accounts program we did send an email with a very attractive upgrade offer to the current version of TASBooks.

So there are a few options open to you:

  1. Upgrade to the current version of TASBooks. If you tell the salesperson you spoke to me on AccountingWeb they will honour that discount
  2. Run your payroll and accounts programs on different computers, or use a 'virtual PC' to run your accounts program
  3. Contact TAS support and they can look at your accounts data. There are some things they can do to try and make the data compatible so you can have both programs on the same computer. However, I can't guarantee it works in every situation.

TAS not working

I have checked all my e-mails.  I have not received any e-mail stating that TAS Books Accounting would not work.  Nor have I received any offer for upgrade.

However, TAS Books 2 is not appropriate for my work.  I usually use cash accounting and I find the old system deals with it more efficiently.

I will ring the support line and see if I can sort it.  I do have 2 hard disks on my computer.  Would moving TAS Books to the other disc solve the problem and if so how could I move it?

Thank you,

Sandra
