A Trial Balance Report
I am a qualified bookkeeper and have primarily always used Sage Line 50 which I love.
Now in an attempt to expand my horizons, I have downloaded the trial version of VT Transaction+. In my own time, I wish to input my current Sage data into VT and so get a feel for how it all works. But I am really having trouble with the Trial Balance report, after inputting all my opening balances.
For this exercise I would prefer to have a traditional Trial Balance with totals at the bottom and Dr and Cr columns, but instead I have a running balance and Ledger balance columns. How do I obtain a traditional TB so that I can compare like for like?
I know it will take some time to understand it properly, and get used to how it works, but I have examined the help file and experimented with various reports and I feel stuck.
Can anyone put me out of my misery?

Trial balance report in VT
As previous post in bottom of left hand corner of Trial Balance click "Options" then tick box for "Display seperate debit and credit columns"
You may find the TB shows all individual Customers and Suppliers individual balances. If you only want to show totals for these ledgers then in the second column of the TB click the "- " and it will change to "+" and it will only show the totals (you can always go back just by clicking the "+" )
I presume you have figured out how to display periods. On bottom of Home Screen it will show Year to ....... you will find that as you progress it will show all year ends that have been done and it allows you to change which year you are working on. The next box lets you change the Current period (this lets you choose either individual months, quarters, entire year or other.

Thank you. That is very helpful and I'm already feeling more comfortable with it.
Now for customer / supplier reports. I haven't added many of either, but I wish to produce a list of them including their addresses. I have managed to create and print a simple list of customers but I cannot see how to display address details or to select all in a list with say contact names and phone numbers.

Not sure this report is available in VTT+ but someone out there may know different.
What can be done when say setting up a new Customer is copy and paste the information you require i.e address/contact into the "Notes" tab.
When you go to Display/Ledger Balances/Customers the information will appear on right hand side under Notes. Tabs at bottom of page will give you various options - Period End - Open entries - Options (You can tick box to show all accounts whether they have balances or not)
Remember any such pages can easily be converted to a spreadsheet view by right clicking mouse button and then copied into Excel.
Perhaps not what you want but as I said someone may know different.

Thanks for the reply. I understand what you're saying but I'm not so keen on the copy/paste option. May be a bit counter-productive. Hopefully someone else can advise their experience. I certainly cannot find it in the manual or anywhere else on line on how to print a report selecting ALL customers showing customer name, contact and phone (or any other data fields). The data is clearly in the system so perhaps there is some sort of enhanced report writer option?.

Trial balance report in VT
I will follow this thread with interest as I too have VT (and sage) I am still finding my way around. When I run a Trial Balance - Display > Trial Balance the resulting report has an options button at the bottom left. There are various options you can set, one of them, on the General Tab is to set Dr & Cr columns. Hope this helps
