VTT+ Modification
Is anyone able to tailor the package?
- as I need an additional department or cost centre colums for income and expenditure.
So that I can not only analyse the income and expenditure into departments as follows:
1st dept (already in VTT+) = Type of Courses provided e.g Accountancy, Business Studies, Graduate Degree Level etc.,
2nd dept = Sub Level courses e.g under Accountany = CAT Introductory, CAT Intermediate, CAT Final, ACCA papers F!-F3 etc.,
3rd dept = Tutor or Staff Names for tracking their costs.
Reporting within VTT+ would be useful but not necessary as I will export the data to Excel and run a pivot table.

Yes, other accounting packages can do this .....
My background is Farm Secretarial and I know that this siituation can be dealt with on the Key Accounting program produced by Landmark Systems.
I worked with a business that ran three different farms, with several different enterprises on each estate.
So there were many variations taking into consideration;
1. Income/Expense
2. Enterprise - which of the 9 different enterprises the activity happened on (3 farms, each with Estate/Shoot/Woodland)
3. Crop or running cost (ie Tractor or farm/let property)
You could do brilliant analysis reports, investigating what each property/tractor/crop cost, analyse the revenue and expense involved for each of the three shoots and it could also cope with all the budgeting/reporting too.

VTT+ Modification
Quickbooks would allow you to this - it can sub-account, track by class / department and also by staff / rep. Very flexible.
Although I haven't done it, VTT+ could probably track staff expenses by setting up a staff "Ledger".

In the meantime - I will try "Project" costing - Check the "Key" Accounts Package and "Quickbooks" as suggested
so far.

Brightpearl would do this
By calling each of the cost centres "Projects"; really easy to set up and use. You could also allocate people to them very easily because it's linked to a CRM system as standard.
I'm afraid I have no idea if VTT+ can be tailored this way or not.
