How do I sign up?
Simply complete the registration form, you will then have unrestricted access to AccountingWEB.

How much does membership cost?
Membership to AccountingWEB is free, as is subscription to our Newswires (with the exception of the TaxZone Newthwire and the Financial Reporting and Audit Alerts). There are resources you can purchase on the website but you will be clearly warned if any cost is to be incurred.

Why do you want all this information from me?
AccountingWEB is a global community with over 90,000 members, we use profile information to tailor our service to your interests. As our membership is free, along with many of the documents in our library, we think this is a small price to pay for such a wealth of data. We ask that you support our partners and sponsors in order that we might continue to provide this free service.

What happens to my personal details?

Using the Site

How do I post a comment or question on the site?
In the Any Answers section of the site you can ask a question by clicking the 'post a question' link. You can also reply to questions in Any Answers and articles on the rest of the site; click the 'post a comment' link below the question or article.

Don't forget that you can search for previous queries on the same topic by using our keyword search box on the Any Answers index page.

Can I use your content?
To obtain permission please send an email to service@accountingweb.co.uk and let us know which article you wish to use and for what purpose. We will then contact the author on your behalf (There may be a charge for use of our content).

If I disagree with the content what do I do?
If you feel that any of the information presented is misleading or incomplete we certainly want to hear about it. I am repeatedly asked to profile, even though I have already done so - what is wrong?
AccountingWEB requires you to have cookies enabled on your web browser, click here for detailed instructions on enabling them.

Are my details secure?
Yes. You may notice that when you go to your profile page that you get taken to a different URL, which begins 'https://' this means that you are now in a secure server area and your details, including bank details, are safe. When logging in, you may be told that you entering or leaving a secure area. This is nothing to worry about; it is just your internet browser letting you know what's happening in the background. Click here for details of our security certificate.

I have forgotten my password - can I be reminded of it?
No problem, just click here to visit our forgotten login page. There you can have your username and password sent to the email address you registered with. If you have changed your email address or have any other problems then email service@accountingweb.co.uk providing details of your query.

Why do the provided login details not work?
Our authentication system is case sensitive so be sure you are entering your details correctly. Also be mindful of spaces, full stops, commas and the like. If you are still unsuccessful, please contact service@accountingweb.co.uk.

How can I change my details?
You can change all of your details (except login name) at any time by updating your profile.

Newswires

Why am I not receiving the Newswires?
Your email address may be misspelt or you may have changed email addresses since registering. Visit your profile and check that it contains the correct address. There are other possible causes:

  • If your email box is full at the time a Newswire is sent, it may not be delivered to you.
  • If your email server is experiencing problems at the time a Newswire is sent, it may not be delivered to you.
  • If you have a spam filter the newswires may be intercepted before they reach your inbox

How can I unsubscribe from the Newswires?
You can update your subscriptions in the Newswire section of your profile.
Please note: The unsubscription process can take up to 14 days.

I am receiving duplicate Newswires - how can this be stopped?
You may be regsitered more than once with different email addresses; please forward both copies of the duplicates received to service@accountingweb.co.uk informing us of the problem and which email address you wish to still receive the newswires.

How much do the Pay-Per-view documents cost?
The price of each document is clearly displayed on the "order confirmation" page which is visible before you make a purchase.

Are my details secure?
Yes. We use industry standard SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) security and encryption software as part of the registration upgrade and buying process. This means that any information that you submit will be encrypted. To see the secure certificate click here. Alternatively right click with your mouse on this page and select 'Properties' then 'Certificates'.

Do I need special software to run PPV documents?
Different types of documents require particular software to open. Most of the documents on AccountingWEB use the following formats;

  • Word documents (.doc) require Microsoft Word
  • Excel spreadsheets (.xls) require Microsoft Excel
  • Power spreadsheets (.ppt) require Microsoft PowerPoint
  • The above are all part of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Zip files (.zip) require WinZip or a similar compression utility.
  • Acrobat documents (.pdf) require Adobe Acrobat reader

A document I have downloaded is not functioning correctly - what do I do?
If you are using an excel based application that uses macros to achieve its functionality, your security settings must be set up to allow these. Follow the instructions below to ensure macros are enabled:

  • In Excel click: Tools, Options, Security, Macro Security and then click the "Medium Security" radio button.

If a document is chargeable will I be warned?
Yes, before you access any chargeable document/service you will be clearly warned.

How do I update/change my payment details?

Credit card/invoice billing - when do I get billed?

  • Credit card payments are almost instant. A notification of billing will be emailed to you, this is a valid VAT receipt.
  • When paying by purchase order you are invoiced at the end of each month.

What is meant by 'minimum spend' when paying by purchase order?
You may notice when setting up a purchase order that a minimum charge of £20 per month can apply.
This means that if a customer paying by purchase order spends less than £20 in a month, the payable amount will be rounded up to £20. This ONLY applies when making a purchase; if you do not purchase anything you will not be billed at all.

What does licence period mean?
The licence period shown for the particular resource you are interested in buying means that once you have bought the resource you can access this resource as frequently as you wish during the licence period. In the case of software products, once you have purchased and downloaded the product to your PC or Mac you can use it as many times as you wish.

Will I be able to access the product straight away?
  • If you are a credit card customer you will be able to access the product straight away.
  • If you are an invoiced customer we need to set up your account initially, which takes about 24 hours, following this you will be able to access the product straight away.
