Intuit launches QuickBooks CRM product

US business software giant has opened a new front against rivals such as Sage and Microsoft Business Solutions with the release of QuickBooks Customer Manager.

The customer relationship management program provides a direct rival to the popular ACT! contact manager (now owned by Sage) and Microsoft CRM. And software developers such as Dosh and MyBusiness have already provided contact management facilities in their program.

Intuit UK's own research indicated that 70% of QuickBooks users wanted faster access to customer information, without incurring the high costs often associated with specialist CRM packages.

QuickBooks Customer Manager will be available from 23 July with a price of £129.99.

The CRM application presents a summary screen of customer contact details, account history, appointments, related projects and recent QuickBooks transactions. The application allows the user to link documents such as emails and letters to the client record to build up a contact history. Users can also toggle between the customer contact details and QuickBooks financial records without having to launch a separate application.

QuickBooks Customer Manager integrates with Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel so that data only needs to be entered once. To help set-up the applications, Wizards guide users through importing and syncing data from other applications.
