Arctic Systems: Revised guidance on treatment of potential settlement cases issued

The Professional Contractors Group has announced that the landmark Arctic Systems case against HM Revenue and Customs [Jones vs Garnett] will be heard at the Court of Appeal on 17 and 18 January 2006.

The timing of the appeal means that practitioners seeking to prepare tax returns showing dividends paid to husband and wife directors of small companies are unlikely have the appeal decision before the deadline for 2005 returns on 31 January 2006.
