Changes to Business Briefs and Tax Bulletins. By Nichola Ross Martin

HMRC produces two main publications to explain tax policy changes resulting from changes in legislation, developments in litigation or internal reviews.

Business Briefs - which cover the indirect taxes formerly administered by HM Customs & Excise. One or two Business Briefs are issued each month, covering a range of topics. Business Briefs can be downloaded from our website or you can subscribe to a paid "post or fax" service.

Tax Bulletin - which covers the direct taxes formerly administered by the Inland Revenue. Tax Bulletin is issued quarterly and can be downloaded from our website or you can subscribe to a paid "print" service.

HMRC are proposing to withdraw "hard copy" from the end of this year, and introduce an new on-line product which covers tax and VAT.

The department says that it wants "to develop this service to meet your needs in a smarter way", and so we are invited to write in and tell them what we would like from an online news service:
