Digital Dictation adoption splits UK accountancy sector, but demonstrates tangible cost reductions and increased productivity…..
The recent nFlow survey on the adoption of Digital Dictation technology in the UK accountancy sector has highlighted some interesting trends and insight......
45% of accountants surveyed are already using Digital Dictation with a further 10% planning to in 2010 driven by the need to reduce administration costs, increase staff productivity and allow staff mobile and remote working. In the current economic climate, these business drivers come as no surprise. In the professional services sector, these factors can significantly impact on practices’ bottom lines.
Over half of the practices that have been using Digital Dictation have done so for over a year. The majority noticed around a 10% increase in staff productivity, with some observing increases of as much as 30%. Similarly, most users have seen operational costs reduce by around 5-10%. In fact, even the firms that have been using Digital Dictation for six months or less have benefited from these savings. This is a good illustration of the immediate business benefits that can be derived from this technology.
On the other hand, 45% of practices that have not yet invested in the technology, have not done so on the grounds that the technology may potentially be too expensive or believe their practices are not large enough to justify a business need for it. To the contrary, the majority of Digital Dictation technology providers offer a range of payment plans and solutions designed specifically for smaller practices. In addition, now there are hosted Dictation-as-a-Service options too. For example, the recently launched nFlowLive.com, offers monthly or yearly contracts for a hosted Digital Dictation service.
Finally, 90% of the respondents not currently using DD stated that if Digital Dictation could demonstrate tangible cost reductions they would change their minds about the technology. So with practices seeing up to 30% productivity increases and 10% reductions in operational costs, perhaps adopting this technology is an obvious step?
