IRIS wins 'Number one' position in Business Of The Year Awards

IRIS, leading developer of accountancy and business software, has been named 'Business of the Year' in the South East regional finals of the National Business Awards.

Acknowledged by the Chancellor of the Exchequer as the UK's 'Business Oscars', the Awards, sponsored by Orange, are completely independent and are designed to recognise excellence, best practice and innovation throughout the business community.

This is the first time that IRIS Software has entered the Awards and the company fought off stiff competition from other businesses, to win the title. IRIS now goes through to the National Finals which will be held on November 8th at the Grosvenor House, London.

The judges commented that IRIS is an 'outstanding organization that has best demonstrated exceptional financial returns, strong growth and innovation strategies, plus market leadership in its sector'.

Martin Leuw, Group Chief Executive, who collected the Award on behalf of the company said: 'Winning this award is an important milestone for IRIS. It provides formal recognition from our peers that the company is one of the country's top business performers. This is a massive achievement and recognition of the tremendous performance of everybody within the IRIS Group. The award has been won by us all and is a real testament to a team effort.'

IRIS is one of the largest and fastest growing independent business software providers in the UK. Its innovative practice software range is used by 4,700 accountancy firms and it is recognised as the market leader in this sector. The IRIS business and enterprise software range, comprising payroll, accounting and HR, backed by the philosophy 'We make it easy' is used by a further 4,000 accountancy practices and 40,000 businesses.

IRIS has already won a number of important industry awards. Its taxation product won the 'Best Tax Software' category in the inaugural Lexis Nexis Taxation Awards and its products have been consistently rated top in independent surveys carried out by the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales in 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2004.

Following a £102m MBO backed by HgCapital and Royal Bank of Scotland in July 2004, the company now seeks to accelerate its growth, providing further products and services to its growing customer base.
