Pegasus hits the high note with Opera II Version 4

Pegasus Software has further enhanced its flagship Opera II solution with the launch of Opera II Version 4. This latest addition to the Pegasus portfolio offers small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) a powerful financial and business management solution built around Microsoft's leading SQL Server database technology. Pegasus believes that this is a unique and progressive approach to software provision, which extends its market reach. This new solution will effectively bridge the gap in both information and technology requirements as today's SMEs expand, negating the need for users to look to other solution providers to meet their changing needs.

This release of Opera II Version 4 completes the suite of Opera II solutions, which comprises of Small Business, Enterprise and Enterprise SQL Editions and provides today's SMEs with a truly scalable business solution. Opera II is a functionally rich, modular solution which grows dynamically to accommodate the ever-changing financial and performance management needs of businesses today, while being fully customisable and cost effective. Indeed it is possible to add Pegasus Payroll and HR applications, which streamline and integrate these operational functions with the core finance system and have been tested and accredited by the Inland Revenue. Pegasus Instant Messenger (PIM) can also be added to deliver critical business updates to designated recipients via discrete pop up messages. The combination of these functionally rich applications and Microsoft's database technology ensures this solution is a truly comprehensive accounting and business solution for today's progressive SME.

Over and above Pegasus's standard world-class financial management capabilities and database technology, Opera II Version 4 offers users looking to deploy MS SQL Server a raft of new features and benefits. Among them is the ability to save considerable time and money by automating administrative tasks. Automatic data file size and memory management combined with data backup and restoration can be automated without any disruption to daily routines but still allows for close monitoring to ensure issues are highlighted and addressed promptly.

In addition, online analytical processing (OLAP) functionality enables users to analyse significant volumes of critical financial and wider operational data accurately and rapidly in a consistent format. The ability to easily categorise such data into logical fields such as financial periods, product groups or sales territories allows business users to easily extract relevant critical performance information, crucial in such a competitive market landscape. Such capabilities enhance the depth of understanding of operational performance, help identify trends and improve the accuracy and timeliness of strategic decision making across the business as a whole.

Data stored in Microsoft's SQL Server allows business transactions to be accessed and used in conjunction with other SQL Server databases or third party applications. Such flexibility provides users with a greater level of control over business information that can be all too frequently locked away in disparate systems within a business, making it costly and time consuming to find, extract and analyse accurately. In bringing information together, Pegasus users can more readily import, extract and disseminate information within a single system; improving the efficiency with which data is managed and utilised, which has a direct bearing on productivity, strategic direction and profitability of the organisation concerned.

Andrew Burgess, managing director at jmc.it, a Pegasus Gold Partner said: 'This latest release from Pegasus is welcomed by jmc.it. We believe Opera II Version 4 provides us with the opportunity to expand our market reach offering a new, powerful and robust solution. The growing SME can be confident that with the latest incarnation of Opera II they are empowered with access to the very best in terms of effective financial management reporting and analysis solutions backed up by robust database architecture. With Opera II Version 4, comprehensive information can be readily and cost effectively produced and customised to meet the ever changing needs of today's user and relayed to the right people at the right time and in the right format.'

Gary Turner, managing director for Pegasus, commented: 'Pegasus Opera II Version 4 combines the scalable and highly flexible financial applications such as Sales, Payroll, Purchase, Nominal and Multi-Currency that Pegasus is widely respected for with the proven and world leading technology behind Microsoft's SQL Server database. Indeed, Microsoft's SQL Server is being viewed as the database of choice for not only enterprise class businesses, but also small to medium sized organisations so it was a logical developmental choice for us as we enhance and build on the strengths of our Opera II solution.
