Deloitte and chairman Scicluna face JDS tribunal

Deloitte's UK partnership and chairman Martin Scicluna have had complaints laid against them by the Accountant's Joint Disciplinary Scheme for alleged lapses relating to Capital Corporation.

On Friday 29 April, JDS executive counsel Chris Dickson issued a public statement outlining three complaints:

  • That Deloitte acquiesced to misleading disclosures Capital made to the market in its 1996 interim announcement

  • Deloitte failed to resign as auditor of Capital in 1996, when Capital failed to disclose to the market that the auditor was unable to form a view on whether or not the company's interim accounts were materially correct
