Graduates are unduly pessimistic about their career prospects in the current climate, according to a recent employment study.
In a recent graduate survey, 72% believed most employers would be cutting graduate vacancies in 2009, but in fact the prospects are much brighter for accounting graduates.
A study by High Fliers Research found that the accountancy sector is set to recruit the most graduates in 2009 (20.9% of the entire market).
"The results highlight the disillusion among UK graduates that has been caused by the current economic conditions", said Dorothy Wood, UK head of education for the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA).
