PwC appoints Britain’s first female jet pilot

17 NovPwC has appointed Britain’s first female fast jet pilot as a director for digital capabilities within the people and organisation practice.

Jo Salter joins the Big Four after 12 years’ experience as a consultant. Prior to that, Salter served as an RAF engineering officer from the age of 18, before becoming a combat ready pilot, flying the Tornado GR1 in 617 Squadron.

Jon Andrews, head of technology and investment at PwC, said: “Jo is an inspiration to all who meet her. Her unique background underscores the business value we place on diversity at PwC and affirms our commitment to recruiting people with a far wider range of skills and backgrounds than ever before.”

Baldwins moves into the North West

21 Nov North West firm CLB Coopers has joined the Baldwin Accountants group.

The deal aids Baldwins in its expansion plan, with this being the first time the group has moved into the North West region. CLB Coopers will continue to trade under that name across its three offices, based in Manchester, Lancaster and Bolton.

Baldwins has grown from 16 to 32 offices over the last 12 months.

John Baldwin, director at Baldwins, said: "We are excited that CLB Coopers has joined the Baldwins Group. The firm has a very strong and respected brand across the North West and offers a full suite of services to its clients. This move will give it a platform to grow further in the region and will capitalise on the strength of the overall Group.”

Former RBS pension head joins PwC

15 Nov - PwC has hired the former head of UK pension solutions at the Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) to lead its pension consulting business.

Sinead Leahy focused on stakeholder management, working primarily with trustees, corporate sponsors and asset managers. She joined the bank in 1995 as deputy head of UK corporate risk solutions before heading the pension solutions in 2006.

Leahy said: “I’m delighted to be joining PwC. The need for pension funds to be able to access independent advice could not be greater. PwC’s market position alongside its leading Skyval analytics platform is an appealing combination for the next stage of my career.”

GT hires former Jaguar Land Rover exec

8 Nov – A former executive from Jaguar Land Rover has joined Grant Thornton as an advisory consultant.

Bob Joyce has over 30 years’ experience in the automotive sector, with particular expertise in restructuring commercial performance, global expansion and organisational development. Joyce was named as one of Deloitte’s top 500 most influential individuals in industrial business development

Commenting on his appointment Bob Joyce said: "I am delighted to be working with Grant Thornton's Business Consulting team. The firm's dedication to quality and unlocking sustainable growth in clients has resulted in a strong market offering.
