A report from Good Day at Work says 2014 could mark a new era for mental health, wellbeing and work.

Part of this article was originally published by our sister site HRZone - an online HR publication dedicated to bringing science, opinion, analysis and insight to bear on the rapidly-developing HR function.

Ben Moss, managing director at Robertson Cooper, writes in his chapter of the report that 2014 will be a tipping point for wellbeing and work.

“The tipping point is where the idea of choice gives way to an imperative and, when it comes to the ideas of balance, fairness, equality and happiness the imperative for business, individuals and whole sectors is clearer than ever.

“In that sense, 2014 can, and should, be the year of a sea change, where the momentum of building the business and ethical cases switches to addressing the anomalies where wellbeing still doesn’t form part of everyday working life,” Moss said.

He added that as we move further away from the aftermath of the 2007 financial crash, which prompted tough questions about priorities and some real rebuilding work inside businesses, it’s vital that the focus on wellbeing remains.

The new report, from Good Day at Work, compiles in-depth analysis and insight from some of the country's leading thinkers and companies.

It offers insight from the likes of Mind, Sally Gunnell, Barclays and First Direct also features a contribution from well-known HR professor Cary Cooper OBE.
