Small practice accountants know the value of a Pound and how long a minute is and they also know how important it is to keep up to date with their profession.

They know full well that taxation is an ever moving feast which constantly challenges and that their clients are looking to them for help and assistance with Auto Enrolment as well as HMRC’s Making Tax Digital initiative so keeping up to date has possibly never been as important as it is today, especially when you recognise that we live in litigious times.

ICPAThe Internet with its plethora of videos and webinars together with professional press have always been a staple diet for practitioners searching for information but when the pressure mounts at work and family life intervenes it’s easy to put off catching up.

That’s why I’m happy to pinch the old BT advert maxim and say “it’s good to talk” and sometimes the best way to resolve a problem is to talk it over with someone else and in order to do that you need to put yourself where others are and that means simply getting up from behind your desk and getting out of the office and attending a branch meeting or seminar or presentation.

There are countless available from breakfast to after work events and on a vast range of topics that will help you not only to keep your CPE points or hours up to date but will help In marketing and practice management.

As someone who often presents and seminars etc. it is really great to have an engaged audience and then to watch them talking over problems or just chatting generally with their colleagues and once people go I often find that they get hooked and attend regularly.

So why not get out from under and start talking because “it’s good to talk”
