Windows XP goes out of support on April 8th 2014. It is estimated that approx. 30% - 40% of Bacstel-IP submitters still use Windows XP as a platform for their submission software. A similar percentage of indirect submitters will also still use this platform. (Bacs, 2013)

How will this impact me?

After April 8, 2014, Microsoft will no longer provide new security updates, hotfixes, free or paid assisted support or technical content updates. Therefore, running Windows XP after its end of support date will expose your company to the risks of viruses and fraud.

Note: Updates to your bank smart cards and signing software will no longer work on XP, meaning you will be unable to make any payments or collections at all.

What do I need to do?

Further to upgrading your Operating System (OS), you may need to update your payments software. Older versions of Bacs solutions might not be compatible with the latest Operating Systems and as a result will no longer be compliant with Bacs latest regulations and technical specifications.

Perhaps this is a good time to review your payment solution? By moving to a Bottomline solution, you can continue to make payments and collections as well as enjoy all the enhancements and assured compliance of a current and innovative product.
