CIMA (the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants) was named Accountancy Body of the Year at PQ Magazine's annual awards ceremony held at Quaglino’s in London this week.
The organisation was applauded for its recent move to more exam sittings and reduced waiting times for exam results.
PQ Magazine editor Graham Hambly said: “CIMA has become a listening body. The 2010 syllabus is a breath of fresh air. Melding the case study and practical experience requirements shows the institute’s commitment to producing competent accountants for the future”.
The other nominees in this category were: AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians), ATT (Association of Taxation Technicians), ACCA, CIOT (Chartered Institute of Taxation), CIPFA (Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy), ICAS (Institute of Chartered Accountants of Scotland), and ICAEW (Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales).
