why my YearEnd Procedure include some extra transactions

I just performed a year end in Sage Instant for our year 2009, the figure on ledger 3299 (Profit and Loss) is different from what my accountant gave me.

I rang up and they said the reason is because they forgot to pick out some transactions from 2010 from the report I previously sent them. The then advice me to do a journal dated on 1st of January 2010, to correct the profit and loss. However, I'm not convinced by this, coz the figure in our previous year account will still be different from the report they gave us!

Tax PDF to big for HMRC

I am trying to file a CT600 using tax software. The accounts attachment pdf file is only 12 pages but the size of the file is 3907Kb.

I am being told it will not accept anything over 3.75 mega bytes.

The PDF was scanned in elsewhere however does anyone know how I can reduce the size of the existing PDF without having to rescan the whole document. I do have PDF995 software but it does not seem to allow me to reduce page sizes.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sage Instant to Line 50?

Hi,

I'm pretty new to accounting and sage. Currently we're using Sage Instant, we're not vat registered and book-keeping has been only a light work to me. Since April 2010, we will start trading and having our own VAT number. We have a copy of Line 50. Just wondering how I can transfer the old entries in sage instant into line 50? The year end is December 09.

Also, we're waiting for our vat number for almost 1 months now, is it normal? I thought it shouldn't take this long to process...

Many thanks.

HMRC online Corporation Tax filing

I file about 20 Corp Tax returns a year using HMRC online and since the new system came in I have problems when I've completed a return and then saved it for example to take the print out to the client for signature. When I come back the file thats saved is a hardcopy but I can't then resume and send it off. I have to retype the whole thing again and send it off whilst its open. I only use the tax return part the report and calcs I send as attachments. The helpdesk have checked my settings. Please tell me wise ones what am I doing wrong!

Laptop reviews: Lenovo Edge and U100e

Spring is almost here and so is the time for new PCs to arrive on these shores. Fresh from their debuts at January’s Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, Lenovo’s new 13in ThinkPad Edge and its 10in sibling, the ThinkPad U100, are now available in Europe.

Low-cost netbooks, typically with 7-10in screens, have been a big hit with the kids in recent years, but these mini-notebooks haven’t made much of a dent in the business market yet. But as a business specialist, Lenovo is definitely rising to the challenge with its new machines.

Question about Skype

I have just signed up to Skype as I telephone Spain on a regular basis. The quality of the sound coming through to me on my headphones is very clear. It's better than if I was listening on a landline. But the sound of my voice to the other person is not too clear apparently - a bit muffled etc. Is it something I have to live with or is it the quality of the speaker on the headphones I use. I think I only paid £25 or so. Would it be worthwhile investing in some super duper headphones/speaker. I'm not very teckie, so please be kind.

Many thanks for any help.
