An accounts worker from Surrey stole thousands from top designer clothing companies to feed his appetite for sports cars, a court has heard.
Married father-of-one Victor Navarro stole £83,000 while earning £25,000 a year as an accountant for luxury fashion label Burberry between August 2007 and July 2010, The Telegraph reported.
While working for Hackett six months later he stole a further £66,153 to make a down payment on a £140,000 Ferrari .
In Southwark Crown Court he admitted four counts of fraud and was jailed for 21 months in February last year for what the judge described as "brazen and substantial offences".
Navarro bought a BMW X5 for £19,500 using cash Burberry owed to a supplier after claiming his bosses were "funding a company car for him," and then sold the vehicle on for £15,000.
In May 2010, he diverted another payment for £31,700 to buy a second BMW X5 from a dealership in Northern Ireland.
Back in February Stacey Cartwright, chartered accountant and finance director at Burberry, decided to step down amid a management overhaul. Cartwright’s decision to quit sent company shares plummeting by more than 6%.
