The latest Agent Update 34 from HMRC reveals that HMRC plans to introduce new online services for tax advisers to support its evolving agent strategy.
With HMRC’s traditional bi-annual system upgrade due at the beginning of April, prototypes of the new online services for agents could appear in the next few weeks. The full roll-out, when it arrives, will include:
- A new online agent registration mechanism
- Self-authorisation to replace the cumbersome 64-8 process and existing online registration
- An enhanced business tax dashboard that will let agents monitor their clients tax payments and liabilities across the main types of business tax.
