Tax advisers unhappy with disclosure facilities

HMRC needs to do more to educate and regain the trust of tax advisers if it is to clear the backlog of tribunal hearings and resolve disputes more efficiently, according to new research.

The survey of almost 200 UK tax professionals by PKF Accountants and Professional Fee Protection found that advisers’ understanding of HMRC’s new ways of working, such as disclosure facilities and procedures including alternative dispute resolution (ADR), internal reviews and suspended penalties, was lower than expected.
