More than 450,000 businesses will have their employer National Insureance Contribution (NIC) bill wiped from April next year when a new employment allowance starts, HMRC has said.

A tax cut worth up to £2,000 for every business and charity in the UK, the NICs Employment Allowance will see them benefit from a reduction in their employer NICs bill.

The tax change, announced in the 2013 Budget will benefit up to 1.25 million businesses and charities in the UK, HMRC said.

Businesses will just have to confirm their eligibility for the allowance through their regular payroll processes and up to £2,000 will be deducted from their employer NICs liability over the course of the year.

Per employer

As stated, this £2000 is per business or employer, not, for example, per tax reference. So, particularly in a group of companies, it would be best to take advice as to eligibility, before assuming so in the payroll.
