The finalists have been announced for the GAME ON software contest from New Zealand-based software house Greentree International.

The competition saw businesses battle it out for a £150,000 software makeover by Greentree, who have had a UK presence for five years, by putting their case forward for why they deserve it.

The 10 finalists were chosen after going before a judging panel. It's now up to the public to decide who will win the major software overhaul.

Peter Mill, marketing campaign manager for Greentree said he was "impressed" with the quality of entries they received.

"We've had entries from all over the UK from businesses very small to very large and they have been remarkably high quality," he said.

Managing director Harry Mowat said he was pleased with the appetite for innovation the entries had, which included construction, pharmaceutical, transport and conservation businesses.

"We're delighted to see so many UK companies determined to innovate and grow. The quality of entries is very high and it is clear that these finalists are passionate about what they do and about winning the competition," he said.

The finalists are:

1. Alimak Hek

  • This international business supplying hoists, lifts and transport platforms to the oil and gas industry, construction companies, chemical plants and power stations

Greentree found that the main issues businesses faced with their software systems were wasted time, risk of errors and unnecessary duplication of tasks.

Judges included Maggie Philbin, Terry Forsey, Liz Jackson, Campbell Williams and Harry Mowat.

The competition was ran in Australia and New Zealand this year and last year, and was a success according to Greentree.

Public voting is now open, with votes being accepted from people all over the world. It closes 23 November with the winner being announced 28 November.

Following the winner's announcement, Greentree will provide follow-up coverage of how their £150,000 software overhaul is transforming their business.
