US-based compliance specialist Prodiance has responded to Alistair Darling's VAT rate change with a tool for identifying and changing tax rate figures in Excel spreadsheets.
To coincide with the rate change last week, Prodiance released a free VAT discovery template for its eDiscovery package. The program is available as a download from the company's website will locate and adjust rates buried deep within tax-related worksheets.
Accounting software providers have been tackling the practicalities of the change and its transitional arrangements since the 24 November Pre-Budget Report. With most applications it is a relatively simple matter to change the default VAT rate. But the practicalities go much deeper than just a firm's accounting application.
