Exchequer launches Web-hosted Virtual Accounts Office

Mid-market accountancy software specialist Exchequer has formed an alliance with Swindon-based accountancy firm Morris Owen to offer accountancy firms and their business clients an online accounting service.

While the big desktop accountancy applications Sage Line 50 and Intuit's QuickBooks now allow professional advisers to log on and examine client accounts via the internet, Exchequer characterised its Virtual Accounts Office (VAO) service as a "bureau service on steroids".

Rather than giving accountants the ability to tinker with journal entries at period ends and audit time, the VAO is designed to let practices operate outsourced finance departments for their clients.
