With our ever-expanding arsenal of portable devices phone, iPod, GPS receiver, PDA, etc most of use find ourselves stranded from time to time without power or the means to get any very quickly. There are some instant phone chargers available, but these are single-use and quite pricey. But sunshine is free, so what about solar power?

Solar power specialist Solar Technology has come up with the Freeloader, a portable battery charger with built-in solar panels that looks like it will recharge almost portable device.

The Freeloader takes power from its solar panels or via a supplied charge cable that plugs into a computers USB. Once charged, Freeloaders internal battery can power an iPod for 18hours, a mobile phone for 44 hours, PSP for 2.5 hours a PDA for 22 hours and much much more. I...
