This doesn't work properly?

Anonymous | | Permalink

But the problem of anonymising the original post (as in the original question posted) still does not seem to have been properly solved and I still can't make the original posts anonymous as this update suggests I can (either that, or I am missing something very basic and if that's the case, please could someone point it out to me)

I can only edit the "questions" (original posts) that I made on the new site and not the ones on the old site.

Please don't turn on the "community functionality" until this has been resolved.
(also, 2 weeks doesn't seem like a very big time frame at all. Thank goodness I haven't got that many posts but I feel sympathy for some of the prolific posters on here, it's going to take them ages)

No photos!

When the "Make this post anonymous" box is ticked, the functionality also needs to make sure the poster's photo isn't displayed!

I posted an anonymous comment in Any Answers and when I checked it, there as large as life was my photo! Not very anonymous!

Thanks!

M

Hi - thanks for this - now fixed ... photos won't show on article comments or Any Answers questions and replies.

Kind regards,
Darren

Hi,

We've had a look into this and older posts should be showing against your account. However, your account is relatively new, so I'm wondering if your earlier posts might possibly have been made under a different account?

Can everyone else see their older posts (pre-June 2009)?

Do bear with us - we'll explore this further.

Kind regards,
Darren

I can see the original posts (that were made on the old website)

I just can't edit or delete them.

(I'm looking at "view my public profile")

Editing posts

Hi,

You're definitely in the right place (View my public profile). Your list of posts will contain a link through to the original article, and will show your comment below it (this gives the comment some context, and also avoids you having to search through a long list of other comments).

At the bottom of your comment you should see an 'edit' link - clicking this will take you into the comment where you have the option to edit, 'Make this post anonymous', etc.

Is this what you've tried already? Do let me know (maybe send me a Private Message if you'd like to discuss this off-thread?).

At the moment I believe that deleting a post has to be done at this end through admin - I'll chase this up, however the issue here is that freely deleting posts can make a nonsense of the flow of a conversation, especially where posts have already had replies made to them.

Kind regards,
Darren

Anonymity

If you open up any post and click on the "printer friendly" button, it often reveals the posters username at the top.

The username will often reveal the posters real identity.

On all previous posts that i have made i amended the text box, so they should be showing as anonymous, as stated above. However, I have opened up a few of these and if i hit "printer friendly" it reveals my username (but thankfully not my identity).

Am i missing something about anonymity?

May I congratulate Aweb on a job well done for sorting and responding to issues on the new and improved website.
Yes, there were lots of teething pains. And I am sure there will be many to come! :) :) :). But many of the issues were handled well. Thanks for your hard work. The success of any website/publications is because it give the reader what it needs!
